My name is Steven Chu and I am the Secretary of Energy. Some of the programs that I have implemented include investing more money in cleaner energy, reducing our dependence on foreign oil, focusing on climate change, increasing jobs, as well as other programs included in President Obama's plan for cleaner energy. I believe that we need to have several sources of clean energy. "The administration believes we must rely on a diverse set of energy sources, including renewables like wind and solar, natural gas, clean coal and nuclear power ... The administration is committed to learning from Japan's experience as we work to continue to strengthen America's nuclear industry." With the recent disaster in Japan the support for nuclear power has gone down, but if we learn what went wrong we can insure that we can have a safe source of energy from nuclear power.
