Our job is important because regulating the economy keeps it from crashing and spiraling us into a depression. Keeping the economy regulated is essential to our nation's safety.

We bear a substantial share of the responsibility for what has happened, but factors that made the crisis so acute and so difficult to contain lie in a broader set of global forces that built up in the years before the start of our current troubles."
The Department of Treasury deals with the nation's economy. Since the national economy is intertwined with the economy of other countries, the crises of our economy can be reflected in the economies of other countries.
